Uncommitted 24 Episode 5: Class of 2023 - 24 New Junior Recruits with Florida leading the charge

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Welcome to episode 5 of the Uncommitted 24 presented by Team 24 Lacrosse where today we are going to take a look at the next 24 uncommitted junior recruits in our region. Episode 4 featured our first look at the 2023 class and we've already seen 4 of those juniors commit to D1 programs with Ponte Vedra's Luke Lowery giving his verbal to Dartmouth, Cannon's Brayson Wilson committing to North Carolina, Pine Crest's Jordan Faison to Notre Dame, and Briarwood Christian's Anderson Moore to Georgetown. Our first look at this class was split evenly to represent all regions, and while this episode still has fair representation throughout our regions, we did dig deep into Florida where there are a lot of players getting recruited heavily by D1 programs since September 1. So let's get right into the next 24 recruits we will highlight in this episode, but please remember this is not a ranking of any sort, it is simply a list of kids, most of whom we have seen play live, and have proven to us that they have the talent to compete on the college level.

Attack (5):

Caleb Coleman

The Bolles School FL

Nationals LC

True National

True Florida

Coleman has enjoyed a huge year in 2021 first leading Bolles in scoring en route to a state Final Four appearance for the Bulldogs, then turning heads on the club scene where he has been playing in the northeast on national teams for several years. A varsity starter since the 8th grade, Caleb played multiple sports growing up, but has concentrated on lacrosse since entering high school. Listed at Attack, Coleman serves as a 2 way midfielder as well. He also maintains excellent grades so it wouldn't surprise us to see him end up at a high end lacrosse school.

Colin Kruger

Jesuit High School Tampa FL

Sweetlax Florida

Kruger is a righty finisher who uses his 6 foot 200+ pound frame to work the crease area. He maintains good lax IQ and doesn't need the ball in his stick to be dangerous. Colin can dodge his way to close range shots comfortably, and will also find the open man when he gets doubled. Scholar student who should be getting some serious D1 looks.

Sean Laureano

Cardinal Mooney High School FL

True National

True Florida

Puerto Rico U-19 National Team

Brady Quinn

The Benjamin School FL

Sweetlax Florida

Brady got a decent amount of playing time last season as a sophomore at Benjamin. He is sneaky off ball and dangerous with it in his stick, very shifty when dodging and will rip a pass to the open man, or he can also burn you by picking the corner if you don't slide to him quickly enough. Quinn also plays varsity football at Benjamin.

Evan Suh

Lambert High School GA

Thunder National

Midfield (7):

Kyle Davis

St. John Paul II Academy FL

Florida Elite

Davis is an electric dodger with the ball, using quick cuts to shake defenders, has nice touch on his feeds while being able to finish in a variety of ways. He possesses strong lax IQ and rarely gets in trouble with the ball even though he is usually outmatched on size. Good speed helps him to avoid a lot of physicality from opponents. Excellent grades will likely give him many options to pursue lacrosse in college.

Bronson Dowdell

Winter Park High School FL

Sweetlax National

Sweetlax Florida

Bronson started for Winter Park as a freshman in 2020 and followed that up by leading the team in scoring during his sophomore season. He helped lead Winter Park to the State Championship game in 2021, and his goal with less than 4 minutes left against Lake Mary in the state semifinal broke a 10-10 tie and wound up being the game winning goal. Dowdell is strong in the classroom and has played a lot of club ball in the northeast so we would expect him to get some offers from schools nationwide.

Ezekiel Lomax

Salisbury School CT

Harrison High School GA

McCallie School TN

Nation United

Sweetlax Florida

Thunder National

Lawson Pritchett

Porter-Gaud School SC

Charleston Elite

Thunder

(Pritchett plays varsity football at Porter-Gaud)

Elijah Stobaugh

IMG Academy FL

Salisbury School CT

Lakewood Ranch High School FL

Sweetlax National

(Stobaugh, an Inside Lacrosse 4 star, also played varsity football at Lakewood Ranch and Salisbury)

Spencer Surface

The Bolles School FL Nationals LC

True Florida

Lax Mafia

Sweetlax

Ireland U-15 National Team

Yet another dominating player who is coming out of the Bolles program, Surface has been a starter on the varsity football team that won states his freshman and sophomore years. Spencer is a 2 way middie who also takes face-offs, quick and powerful with strong stick skills which makes him tough to control on the field. He was 2nd on Bolles in scoring in 2020 and 2021 and has been a starter since the 8th grade. The honors student is likely going to have a lot of offers to choose from before too long.

Julian Targete

IMG Academy FL

Belmont Hill High School MA

Laxachusetts

USA U-15 National Team

Great mix of size, speed and skill. Uses his athleticism to shake defenders and lets it rip. Skies the limit for Targete who is an Inside Lacrosse 4 star and is ranked the #50 junior in the nation.

Defense/LSM (8)

Camden Autry

Woodstock High School GA

Thunder National

Zachary Brent

Saint Andrews School FL

Sweetlax Florida

Lax Mafia National

True National

True FL

Nationals LC Zachary is a very athletic defenseman capable of making plays literally all over the field as he also doubles as a 2 way middie. He made varsity at Saint Andrews as a freshman in 2020 as an LSM and Midfielder, and became starting Defenseman and LSM as a sophomore. Speedy and smart, works well with other elite talent to communicate through slides. There will be plenty of opportunity for Brent to step up defensively at Saint Andrews (if that's how he will be used) in 2022 with the graduations of Corey Frydman (UMass), Timmy Martin (TCU), and Tristan Moss (Denison).

Hudson Brown

Catholic High School of Baton Rogue LA

FTK National

Dual sport athlete from a non traditional area Hudson may be a bit of a sleeper but really shouldn't be, he has good size and speed and makes great plays on defense, constantly laying checks and forcing turnovers. He can also handle the ball going the other way and has a crisp, accurate shot that he isn't shy about taking if he has the opportunity. Make sure to add him to your list if you haven't seen him yet. Brown also plays varsity football at Catholic.

Mack Gray

Ponte Vedra High School FL

Nationals LC

Gray is a quick intelligent defender who uses good timing on his slides to attack ball carriers and force turnovers. Can pick it up and go too. We expect him to progress into a absolute force for Ponte Vedra in 2022 and is likely garnering a lot of recruiting attention from top colleges in the country. Mack also plays varsity football at Ponte Vedra.

Nathaniel Laquis

Georgetown Preparatory School MD

Canterbury School FL

MadLax Nationals

Sweetlax Florida

(Laquis swam varsity at Canterbury)

Vinny Layne

St. Thomas Aquinas High School FL

True National

Sweetlax Black

Florida Crabs

Vinny had an excellent 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas where he started in all of the team's games and will be looked upon to lead their defense into 2022 now that Matthew Chrupcala (Catholic), Nino Dominguez (Queens), and Sam Whitaker (Johns Hopkins) all have graduated. Layne has good speed and size, nice sticks skills and usually makes the correct decision with the ball on the clear and in transition. He is also a beast in the classroom excelling in honors classes so we expect he will have plenty of offers to choose from.

Zach Mesa

Culver Academies IN

St. Thomas Aquinas High School FL

Sweetlax National

Sweetlax Florida

Zach is a tenacious, tough defender who plays a very aggressive style of defense and has a real nose for the ball, causing turnovers and helping to get it back upfield. Uses great footwork to shutdown top Attackmen from around the country. Mesa is an Inside Lacrosse 4 star who also plays varsity football at Culver Academies.

Keith Pemberton

Forsyth Country Day School NC

NC Fusion

Goaltending (4):

Ryan Kaplan

Saint Andrews School FL

Harrison High School NY

Sweetlax National

Sweetlax Florida

Nationals LC

Predators

Kaplan is poised and calm in goal, makes the saves he should and then some. He gets the ball out quickly and makes good decisions starting the clear.

Bryce Ledwith

Virginia Episcopal School VA

True National Atlantic

Annapolis Hawks

91 Carolina

(Ledwith plays varsity football at Virginia Episcopal)

Brayden Williams

Mill Creek High School GA

Thunder

Good hands with a strong lax IQ, Williams communicates well and is very energetic in net. He was an all star this summer at Inside Lacrosse's IL Invitational along with Thunder '23 teammates Jack Marlow (Michigan commit), Anderson Moore (Georgetown commit), and Donny Scott (Syracuse commit).

Marco Wimmershoff

Salisbury School CT

Bronxville High School NY

Sweetlax National

Sweetlax Florida

Some will be committing very soon, some not for awhile, listen to your gut, if you got the offer of your dreams and you know it, go ahead and commit, if you're not sure, be patient, let time help your consideration process. Good Luck 2023s! Check back in soon to catch the next grouping of 24 recruits who show up in episode 6 of the Uncommitted 24.
