Welcome to the NCAA monthly Commitment Roundup powered by Project X Lacrosse where we are pleased to report that in the month of May a total of 31 high school boys from the Deep South have committed to play college lacrosse. This month's report includes 2 new recruits who will be joining NCAA D1 programs and 3 commits who come from the 2022 class. Please note, our area of coverage in the Deep South consists of the 9 states east/northeast of Texas (AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN).
Florida led all states with 14 new commits, followed by North Carolina with 5, Arkansas, Georgia and South Carolina with 3 each, and a single commit from the states of Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee. North Carolina placed two '22 commits while Florida is home to the other. Georgia and North Carolina were the states that enjoyed a recruit committing to a D1 program in May. The following is the list of the players from the Deep South who committed to college programs in the month of May:
Jackson Houston - 2021 Attackman at Huntsville High School in Huntsville (LI Sting/Huntsville LC) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Russell Sage College (NY) in the Empire 8 Athletic Conference. Houston also played varsity football at Huntsville.
Caden Blevins - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Bentonville High School in Bentonville (Bear State Lacrosse) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Columbia College (MO) in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
James Gordon - 2021 Attackman/Midfielder at Bentonville High School in Bentonville (Bear State Lacrosse) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Columbia College (MO) in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Josh Papania - 2021 Defenseman/SSDM at Fayetteville High School East in Fayetteville committed to play DII lacrosse at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference. Papania also played varsity football.
Eiyad Baker - 2021 SSDM/Goaltender at Seminole High School in Sanford (True Florida/Always Sunny Lacrosse) committed to play JUCO lacrosse at Onondaga Community College (NY) in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Ben Byrne - 2021 Midfielder at Jupiter High School in Jupiter committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference. Byrne also played varsity football at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach.
Beau Casterline - 2021 Midfielder at Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando (Lacrosse Club Orlando/Always Sunny Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference.
Ezequel Ceant - 2021 LSM/Defenseman/Midfielder at Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach (Dukes LC) committed to play DII lacrosse at Lourdes University (OH) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Atlantic Conference.
Louden Devine - 2021 Defenseman at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale (RAW Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Hendrix College (AR) in the Southern Athletic Association.
Todd Giol - 2022 Midfielder at Jupiter High School (WLTW/Creator's Game/Palm Beach United/ FCA Palm Beach/Black Lab Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Florida Tech (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference.
Chris Lopetegui - 2021 Goaltender/Defenseman at Westminster Christian School in Miami (Miami Lacrosse Club) committed to play MCLA lacrosse at the University of South Florida (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.
Roderick Pittman-Delancey - 2021 Midfielder/Goaltender at Timber Creek High School in Orlando committed to play MCLA lacrosse at Florida Polytechnic University College (FL) in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference.
Jose Reducindo - 2021 Midfielder/Face-Off Specialist at Immokalee High School in Immokalee (Immokalee Venom) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Cleary University (MI) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Reducindo also played varsity basketball at Immokalee.
Aidan Rodriguez - 2021 Attackman/Midfielder/Defenseman at Riverdale High School in Fort Myers (Ballistic Lacrosse) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Webber International University (FL) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Jonathan Santiago - 2021 Defenseman at Immokalee High School in Immokalee (Immokalee Venom) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Cleary University (MI) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Atlantic Conference.
Ashton Siegel - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at South Plantation High School in Plantation (Blue Roses Knights LC) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MA) in the Little East Conference.
Isac Soto - 2021 Goaltender at Immokalee High School in Immokalee (Immokalee Venom) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Muskingum University (OH) in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Soto also played varsity football at Immokalee.
Asher Westbrook - 2021 Defenseman at Pedro Menendez High School in St. Augustine (2 Knights) committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference.
Changed commitment:
Louis Lewis - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Immokalee High School in Immokalee (Immokalee Venom) changed his NAIA committment from Clarke University (IA) to Cleary Univeristy (MI) in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Lewis also played varsity football at Immokalee.
Sebastian Carazo - 2021 Attackman at McEachern High School in Powder Springs/formerly at North Hagerstown High School in Maryland (Thunder LB3) committed to play DIII lacrosse at LaGrange College (GA) in the USA South Athletic Conference. Carazo also played varsity football at North Hagerstown.
Parker Emmett - 2021 Midfielder at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton committed to play D1 lacrosse at the University of Albany (NY) in the America East Conference.
Drew Pond - 2021 Attackman and Midfielder at Greenbrier High School in Evans (Victory Elite/Augusta Patriots Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Tusculum University (TN) in the South Atlantic Conference (this commitment happened in November 2020).
Andrew Brown - 2021 Attackman at Jesuit High School in New Orleans (FTK For The Kids) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Berry College (GA) in the Southern Athletic Association.
Konrad Homiak - 2021 LSM at Topsail High School in Hampstead (Cape Fear Shamrocks) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Allegheny College (PA) in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Hudson James - 2021 Defenseman at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro (NC Fusion Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Methodist University (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference. James also played varsity football at Northwest Guilford.
Hunter Klingel - 2021 Goaltender at Northwood High School in Pittsboro committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at Lees-McRae College (NC).
Matthew Lutzel - 2022 Attackman at SouthLake Christian Academy in Huntersville (Ninety One Charlotte Team 24/7) committed to play D1 lacrosse at High Point University (NC) in the Southern Conference. Lutzel also played varsity football at SouthLake Christian.
Dylan Stauffer - 2022 Face-off Specialist at Apex Friendship High School in Apex (Red Devil United) committed to play DII lacrosse at Wingate University (NC) in the South Atlantic Conference.
Josh Davies - 2021 LSM/Defenseman at Lexington High School in Lexington (Victory Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Lander University (SC) in the Peach Belt Conference.
Mike Gonzales - 2021 Midfielder at May River High School in Bluffton committed to play DIII lacrosse at Pfeiffer University (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference. Gonzales also played varsity football at May River.
Dylan Telemaque - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Byrnes High School in Duncan (Spartanburg Sting) committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at North Greenville University (NC).
Joey Cuthbert - 2021 Attackman at Franklin High School in Franklin (No Excuse Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Berry College (GA) in the Southern Athletic Association. Cuthbert also played varsity hockey at Franklin.
