Welcome to the monthly Deep South NCAA Commit Roundup powered by Project X Lacrosse where we are pleased to report that in the month of March a total of 29 high school boys from the Deep South have committed to play college lacrosse. March has brought a flurry of D1 and 2022 commits as 8 recruits will be joining NCAA D1 programs while 7 commits come from the 2022 class. Please note, our area of coverage in the Deep South consists of the 9 states east/northeast of Texas (AL, AR, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN).
Florida led all states with more then half of this month's commitments with 15, followed by North Carolina with 5, Tennessee with 4, Georgia with 3, and Alabama with 2. Florida, Georgia and Tennessee each placed two '22 commits while North Carolina placed the final '22. Florida and Georgia both placed three D1 recruits while Tennessee placed the other two D1 commits. The following is the list of the players from the Deep South who committed to college programs in the month of March:
Emanuel Grisom-Butler - 2021 Defenseman at Homewood Senior High School in Birmingham (Greater Birmingham Youth Lacrosse Association) committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Savannah College of Art & Design (GA) in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
Blake Thomas - 2021 Goaltender at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Trussville (Bama Lax) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Huntingdon College (AL) in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Ari Allen - 2021 Midfielder at IMG Academy in Bradenton (Thunder LB3) committed to play D1 lacrosse at The Ohio State University (OH) in the Big Ten Conference.
Peter Basturk - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Canterbury High School in Fort Myers (Old Bay Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Florida Southern College (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference.
Tanner Brock - 2021 Attackman and Midfielder at Escambia High School in Pensacola/formerly at Booker T. Washington High School also in Pensacola committed to play DII lacrosse at Quincy University (IL) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Giacomo Comuzzi - 2022 Midfielder at American Heritage School in Delray Beach (Krakens Sweetlax) committed to play DII lacrosse at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference.
Michael "Mac" Crenshaw - 2021 Goaltender at Windermere High School in Windermere committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference.
Clay Edwards - 2021 Attackman and Defenseman at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee (Wolfpack Lacrosse/Terror Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Florida Southern College (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference (this commitment happened in February).
Nicholas Golubov - 2022 FO Specialist and Defenseman at Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton (Sweetlax Florida) committed to play D1 lacrosse at Colgate University (NY) in the Patriot League.
Christian House - 2021 FO Specialist at Allen D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedra (Villages Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse at Flagler College (FL) in the Peach Belt Conference.
Evan Johnson - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at Seminole High School in Sanford (Always Sunny Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Brevard College (FL) in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Alex Nicholas - 2021 Midfielder at Seminole High School in Sanford (Always Sunny Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at the University of Mount Union (OH) in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Samuel Montoya - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at IMG Academy in Bradenton (36 Lacrosse) committed to play DII lacrosse in Conference Carolinas at Belmont Abbey College (NC).
Andrew Pagano - 2021 LSM/Defenseman at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens (Creator's Game) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Piedmont College (GA) in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Jared Perez - 2021 Midfielder at Allen D. Nease High School in Ponte Vedra (Phins Sweetlax) switched his DIII commitment from LaGrange College to Brevard College (FL) in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Josh Thomson - 2021 Defenseman/LSM at The First Academy in Orlando (Krakens Sweetlax) committed to play DII lacrosse at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL) in the Sunshine State Conference.
William Upchurch - 2021 Attackman at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey (Sweetlax Florida) committed to play D1 lacrosse at Colgate University (NY) in the Patriot League.
Ethan Duerk - 2022 FO Specialist at South Forsyth High School in Cumming (3d Georgia) committed to play D1 lacrosse at Merrimack College (MA) in the Northeast Conference.
Taji Flynn - 2021 Defenseman at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta (Thunder LB3/Nation United) committed to play D1 lacrosse at The Ohio State University (OH) in the Big Ten Conference.
Julian Robinson - 2022 Midfielder at Kell High School in Marietta (Thunder LB3) committed to play D1 lacrosse at Hampton University (VA) which is Independent but will be joining the Southern Conference as an associate member on July 1.
Timmy Carcel - 2021 Defenseman at Asheville High School in Asheville committed to play DIII lacrosse at Warren Wilson College (NC) in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Colin Galpin - 2022 Midfielder at William A. Hough High School in Cornelius (Team 24/7 Lacrosse) committed to play DIII lacrosse at Hood College (MD) in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth.
