2 New D1 Dual-Sport Commits out of South Florida announced

Updated: Aug 10

DSLR would like to take a moment to celebrate 2 phenomenal athletes from South Florida who have committed to play both NCAA Division 1 lacrosse and football in college. Dylan Faison has given Notre Dame his 2-sport verbal a few months ago, while Jayden Vega made it official in late July, verbally committing to Brown to play both sports also.

Dylan Faison got offered a football scholarship to Notre Dame and a day later committed to both of their football and lacrosse programs where his older brother Jordan already plays for both teams. As an 8th grader Dylan had amazing chemistry with Jordan on the lacrosse field at Pine Crest School, making everyone wonder if the youngster can possibly be even more athletic than his already jaw-dropping (HS Junior) brother who recently played Wide Receiver and was Sun Bowl MVP last fall, and won a National Championship as a Midfielder this spring as a freshman for the Fighting Irish. The debate will likely continue on for years, but our prediction is that Dylan will most assuredly leave his own mark at Notre Dame just like Jordan has already done. The younger Faison has freakishly good speed and reads the lacrosse field exceptionally well, making him one of the top playmakers nationally, even grabbing the number 1 ranking by U.S. Lacrosse for recruits in the 2026 class last fall. Notre Dame has been Dylan's dream since long before Jordan ended up in South Bend, so while he might be following in his brothers footsteps, he will be making his own dream a reality when he enrolls for the fall of 2026 and suits up for the Fighting Irish lacrosse and football teams soon after.

Jayden Vega is a great all around athlete who uses his size and speed to free up a deadly shot, a real artist and gamer. This past spring Vega was poetic, often dominated opposing defenses with his athleticism, and was a catalyst in leading Benjamin to their first State Championship in lacrosse. He possesses an incredible motor, a never quit attitude and is also tough as nails. These attributes helped him earn a Top 24 ranking by DSLR for southern recruits in the 2025 class, so when his annoucement came out in July that he was committing to the Division 1 football and lacrosse programs at Brown, no one at DSLR was in the least bit surprised. While we often wondered if he would play football only, there is little doubt to us, that he will excel on the lacrosse field at Brown in Rhode Island, and we are incredibly proud to see Jayden commit to an Ivy League education.

Looking forward to following their college careers and can't wait to see them play in the spring AND the fall for years to come. But until then, we will relic their athletic prowess on the South Florida lacrosse fields while we still have them. Fall Ball will be here before you know it!
